  • Primary follow up today

Dr. said we look younger in our masks, he was being serious.  He's noticed that with people. I said it is because you can't see double chins and wrinkles. LOL  He was pleased with our lab tests as was I except Wil eats more cookies and his A1c was 6.8 mine was 6.9.  lol  Yes I know there are agencies that want those lower but my doctor find them OK.  Got our flu jabs too.

We discussed the pain I have in my sternum through to my back most of the time. Basically at my age there is little I can do about pain any where. Possibly my hiatal hernia or the scarring in my esophagus. I'm in no mood to go see the GI doctor. The one who suggested a cardio doc through his staff.

On the way home I finally remembered what I have been trying to remember all week. I wanted to stop at the collision place and see what it would take to fix the chrome strip on the back door. Once home I called and gave him my credit card so they could order the part. Will be interesting to see how long it takes Chrysler this time.

I stopped at Firehouse subs and picked up lunch. Wil complained I wasn't in between the lines good enough and I told him open the door and look. I was in perfect btw.  Riding with him in the passenger seat is always stressful for me. I have to remind him not to grab hold of the bar above the window as the screw holding that in is under half an inch.  I crack his window so he can reach out but he doesn't always remember. I try to watch the turns to go slow enough he doesn't have a need to hang on. :-)

Well Facebook caught up with my by pass of their new page. So now I have to learn to use that and I hate it. Every time I click on a photo to see it larger it is not larger really. I had picked the black background the first time and I know I could change that but there would be a lot of white.  I used to be able to follow what I posted easier. Now I can't figure it out. Yeah I know it has only been one day.

So far this week I'm passing over political stuff for the most part.  I hate the power play going on with the hypocrites that wouldn't let Pres. Obama pick a Justice for the Supreme Court.  A move to assure DT another term.  Yeah again I'm mad at the Democrats for choosing someone very vulnerable. I like Biden but there were a lot of others running and a couple I could of gone with. Oh well I just have to hope my ballot gets here in time and the post office gets it back in time.  It will be interesting to see how much Wil understands with his. Imagine the lower races he will just skip over.  He's still quick on some things. He saw a T shirt tonight and immediately knew what it read as I tried to figure it out. His humor is still intact.

    Thanks for popping in.

  • Close to a month now

Vola Yesterday was the first I've been in our church since..was it March?  I pulled on my mask, got out of the car and joined others to say good bye to Vola. She died the day after she turned 97, it was cancer that got her.  She had tried the chemo pills but they were just to hard on her. She wasn't afraid of death, she spoke to me about going at least a year before when she wasn't facing death.

Her son spoke of her attitude when she learned the angels in the Bible were all men. Brought back that memory for me. She would have none of it. Now she and God can work that out. :-)

In the same week my friend Kate lost her father due to unexpected complication from hernia surgery. Non invasive procedure.

On my way home from the service as I sat in a line at the donut shop I called Wil to let him know where I was. He was barely out of bed when I left and I'm sure he didn't remember what I said. Takes him awhile to wake up and I even wrote a note on the board to turn the coffee pot on it was ready. Instead he put the teakettle on and was drinking a cup when I came home. So far he remembers how to do that.

Dr. Mireas was right when he said Wil would sleep a lot. I mean a lot too.  His mind goes to places unknown to me at times. He asked a couple days "where did every body go" as I was fixing lunch. He couldn't define who every body was. Also last week he searched for his mother after I said she wasn't here.  Otherwise you come here you would never know. Wil was always a quiet person and now his voice has gotten so low I sometimes can't hear him. His walk is slower too. Last night he got caught in the rain filling the bird baths and his shirt got pretty wet. I found the hose this morning, he was clear out to the furthest birdbath.

Here is Pook's room Still haven't found a name for it.  Wish I could find a place for that sewing hassock under that desk. Makes it hard

    pookroomNow

to open that window. (I can't get the words to the right of this picture.) I just dragged it middle of sentence. LOL

Kathy asked to see it but I got in trouble with Scott's picture.  Think I told you about that.  The balloon on the wall was my birthday balloons when I turned 80.

Wil sat in here watching me coloring this morning.  I was explaining the shading I was doing by comparing with Scott's picture. He kept looking at the pictures on that wall and said "he was an artist".  He realized all the pictures on that wall Scott did.  Assuming he remembered that, maybe he was guessing.

While looking at photo's on the computer last night he did not know it was him in a couple of them.  Today he brought the mail to me and again I had to explain about Express Scripts. I showed him how I pay for them and of course I discovered an extra $10 and had to call them.  I've got pills coming Monday and you can't pay part when set up for auto pay. I didn't realize I had done that. I've a lot to learn.

  • Here is a link/list

    https://johnpavlovitz.com/2020/08/24/compassionate-faithful-patriotic-republicans-its-time-to-cross-the-line/

Looking at Xanga editor the link thing is grayed out.  My apologies.

I used to link such to my FB but right now I'm trying to post mostly positive stuff. Including my efforts at coloring.  I am fighting fear, fear of losing everything we ever worked for, retirement, medical, our ability to mail a ballot.  Off soap box now.

When Pookie died I worked to take the room back, waiting for Carissa to bring a curtain rod so I can hang curtains, something missing for years. I hope she will be able to stand on the step stool, I'm not supposed to. I suppose I could if either she or Wil hung on to me. :-)

I took all my coloring things out of the dinning room. I rolled the old office chair in there and moved the old style kitchen chair I've kept from a find years ago, back to this office. Wil was having trouble getting up out of the office chair when he would come back to sit with me.

Painting can wait in that room and every other room until we are gone. Only thing I will miss being in there is sitting and talking with Carissa as I colored in the dinning room. I have a folding chair leaning against the wall that was Scott's but I don't think it would be comfortable.  There is the bigger chair that was Scott's in the bedroom but my bed pillows are on it. Plus it was hard to get in that room and will be hard to take out I bet.

I just took a break and went and moved the chair out of the bedroom so Carissa can sit or Wil can sit in that room as well. Bed pillows and heating pad will just lay on a little plastic table I dragged from the front porch. I had Wil drag the sewing hassock by the file cabinet, didn't like it I dragged it back.  I moved a plant up on the little file cabinet to see if it grows better there.  I'm not so good with plants any more.

Tell ya if an interior designer ever walked in this house they would have a heart attack. :-)

  • Adjusting

Saturday we buried Pookie, between tears. Then it was take cages out of that room, Wil did it I couldn't lift Pook's cage and he barely could.  I got the bucket and set  work on the wall. Birds eating are messy but he wasn't to bad. I sat on the chair to do most of it.  Then came the floor, Wil wanted to do that but I was messing with the Swifter. Could find no way to get to any batteries and it wouldn't spray.  Pulled out the Libman that I really like.  Had Wil roll the big file cabinet under wall shelves.

Daughter and I talked about moving Wil's desk in there but decided against it. He doesn't take change at this stage. When I asked him if he wanted to move it he said "I have a desk?"  So instead I swapped the chair from there with the old office chair. It now becomes my reading room.

This week I've had Tina in to do the floors she missed last week because I was off to Office Depot forgetting it was her day. Then Millie popped in with some hats she thought I'd like and a little gift of books for coloring cards that are about postcard size and probably could be used as such. That just pleased me to no end. A new coloring challenge!   Carissa and I just talked yesterday as I seem to be bored with the Mandela's and animals.  My hummingbird book is about done.

Tomorrow night I will finish supper then go pretty much nothing by mouth for the right side ablation on my back.  They will ask how I've been since the last one.  How do I tell them when I fell on my backside the very next day trying to put 4 puppies back in the yard that I did so much damage to muscles I couldn't tell of any improvement?

Well it's time to warm up some pizza from Saturday.  Of course if I were a college kid I'd eat it cold.

  • Today is daughter's birthday

I sent her some Jacquie Lawson cards but perturbed I didn't get to Walgreens for one. With all the running around I did I wore out really quick.  In fact today I still have no energy.  Hung the flag, gave Shiloh a couple dog treats, sprayed some weeds around the flag pole, filled bird feeders, hung a corn cob for the squirrel.  Oh and scattered some cat chow on the drive way for that d...feral grey cat. Want to keep it away from bird feeders. Or try to.

Got up at 3 a.m. as sinus had clogged my nose. Eyes mattery as well. Slept some in recliner but got up at 6 a.m.  I am pretty darned mad at myself. I poured a cup of coffee left in the pot to reheat for Wil this morning. Didn't get to the kitchen in time, he dumped it. He just forgot I guess microwave would reheat it. Do it all the time.  But I'm mad at myself because I fussed at him for dumping it. Doggone it I know he has dementia, I know he can't remember stuff.  I apologized and gave him a little hug, he just shrugged. But I'm still mad at myself.

Again today I will be dealing with the heavy ache in my sternum that goes right to my back where it feels worse. Had my usual breakfast so it was nothing that would cause reflux.  Not much sense in sending another email to primary, he didn't answer the first one.  No burning, just feels like someone pushing on my chest. Annoying.

I'm betting all doctor would say 'stress'.  I don't get up in the morning feeling stressed, annoyed with sinus that's all.

We have been watching blue jays come to the seed cylinder in the back yard. Plus another unidentified brown bird with a speckled brown and white chest. Can't find it in my bird book. It has been years since we had blue jays. I love those brassy birds.  Maybe I should google TX birds.

  • Well I did it!

Gulped my cereal down this morning to be out the door to get to Wilford Hall hosp to pick up my prescription. Nice enough I traveled with windows down. Found the parking lot entrance to the lower parking lot. Still a long walk up to the door and another long line waiting for meds.  They had 12 windows open, so the line moved along.  I get to the end, the security guy said go to window 12 and the airman on the other side told me don't come until your called, go next door.  Scanned my card and he was trying to figure out something and had to ask the guy beside him. I soon learned they didn't have the refills ready. I called it in Sunday and today I was to pick it up.

On the way home I cut through road work into Dunkin Donuts and got Wil his donuts as well as one for me. I deserved a treat. lol  By 9 a.m. I was back on the road after they had called. Drove around the parking lot twice, third time on my way to exit I saw a space. Zipped in, hung my handicap placard, got my walker again, slung that heavy purse over my shoulder and off I went to wait in another long line, fewer windows open this trip.

Once home I told Wil I was signing us up for Express Scripts. I just can't do this any more. Now that became battle two. I couldn't sign in, so I placed a phone call. Walked through this pill by pill for both of us.  She needed to speak with Wil and on the way down the hall I had to keep telling him his birthday and zip code.  Of course it is no longer $7 for meds, up to $10 and I have a couple that will cost me $29.  All these years we have gotten our medicine at no cost. Military benefit.

So yours truly decided after I hang up, log in. Guess what, it didn't recognize the password! I had to reset my password!

For my pain medicine I didn't want it in my mailbox so will still be able to use the local pharmacy.

Maybe tomorrow I can get to Lowe's for a plant and spray nozzle and weed killer. We are heading into triple digit temps so I will have to get out early. Better find out their hours.

I'm off to finish my email now. :-)

  • 91 degrees F and I'm out in it.

All of a sudden today I remembered I had a prescription to pick up for Wil. Without a thought out the door I went. Didn't turn the air on in the car as a breeze came in the windows.  As I travel up the street I see the sign 'right lane closed ahead'.  I start my turn into the left lane, it stops. We sit through the green light at least twice. People go around my tail end on the right. Either they didn't see the sign or didn't care. Wish I could of let them know I wasn't going to let them cut back in. :-)

By the time I get to the intersection they are paving the street in the right hand lane! Why at 2 p.m.? One could barely get by that machine in the left lane! I made it. So on the way home I decided to shoot into the right lane and go get donuts. Oh good grief the entire left lane all the way down that street was barricaded.  Took some maneuvering to get into and out of Dunkin Donuts drive through.  So I told Wil I bought donuts for today and tomorrow as I was not going that way again. lol

We had pouring down rain last night, so today the yard guys came. Glad they weren't using my mower as the grass was still wet. (we don't have a mower any more). They had to use Juan's green barrel as well as mine.

Earlier I was out pulling vine off the back corner in the back yard. Lovely thing to do when you had to take a pain pill the night before. I find I have to walk off the back pain and it takes filling the bird feeders and walking more than 50 ft. in that back yard. :-)   Wil went out later and filled the bird baths out back and I'm glad for that. Dragging a hose with water in it takes a bit of effort.

I need to go to Lowe's and get some weed killer, I couldn't pull all the vine off.  I'd like to buy a plant for the front pot as my poinsettia after 2 yrs. died in the heat.  First I have to find what time they open as I go when it's cooler any where. Or used to, now not so much. I also have to get bird seed at the feed store and it is the other direction and tomorrow I have a dental cleaning.  Then Thursday a trip to Wilford Hall Medical Center for my prescription.

I have thought of signing up for Express Scripts but I can't get them to tell me what my log in is. They don't answer the phone either.

Michel I am sorry to hear your wife has reflux without a lot of help with medicines.  Mine is now to that ache in my sternum through to my back just about all the time. I'm trying to watch intake on tomato products but that is about the only thing I can taste now. The severe burning is gone at least.  Years ago I had the head of my bed elevated, not now though.  Sleeping better at night now. Still mad at my doctor for not replying to my email.

Have not come across my book "Through the Arch" and now I have to add one of my coloring gel pens that walked off.

  • Not much accomplished today

That seems to happy a lot now days. Work one day and just kill time the next couple days. Though part of my work was shove 4 puppies back in their yard, fall on my butt, raise a blood blister on my wrist.  I sure learned that I can no longer squat and move about. Got lectured by a friend about it. Well a couple friends.  I apparently did a good job of blocking their exit, they are still in.

Talked with Juan this morning, he kicked his son and girlfriend out again. Think they took mama dog as I didn't see her. Juan said if they don't come back for the pups he will send them to the 'pound' ie Animal Care Services.  Think he had the right name for the place as they did nothing to see to it Justin followed orders.  Well hey in all fairness if his dad can't do anything with him how could the city?

I did manage to pick up prescriptions this week, got Wil out to wash the car too. He did a better job this time as I told him we will wash and rinse twice. Then I had hauled some rags to wipe the windows off some. Didn't haul enough of them though. :-)

I forgot to line up the lawn people today. I kept falling asleep. I've only fed us twice and finished coloring a page. While my backside is slowly getting better I have no gumption to move about.

Can't remember if I wrote I found my missing camera. It apparently fell off the roll around shelf that doesn't roll around. I had decided I had to rearrange the stuff on the wall under this window as my desk chair slides some into it and the back of the chair has a bit of damage. Vinyl covers don't stand up well. When I moved the stands there was my camera!  It works, but now I need a new reader as the old one is not working right.  No hurry, haven't used the camera much. Have enough sky pictures.  Guess I found my cell phone easier now.

Now I have to find the missing book, "Through the Arch" written about my home town in 1976. I have looked on every bookcase, in every storage hassock, just every place it could be. No luck. The book is no longer in print. I talked to author Norma, she only has one, hers.  No I did not carry it out of the house to read any where.

My gastric reflux improved some, until I drank my frap at supper. It's mostly milk with a little coffee but as Kate says to much sugar. She says if she has to much sugar her stomach acts up. Mine was set off a week ago with ravioli in a lovely tomato sauce.  I got no answer from my doctor after I shot an email to him asking if he would talk to the gastro doc as I am not going back to the cardiologist. I told both of them the cardiologist said it is not my heart. Neither of them was listening.

Think I'll go color and do dishes. Appreciate hearing from any one reading. :-)

  • Always tired or is it lazy?

4 a.m. I had to take a pain pill and pop into the recliner until 6 a.m. Then toss towels in the laundry, get the dog to follow me home but it runs from Juan. I ended up gathering her and handing her over. He said she is trying to get away from the pups. Justin needs to do something about that but he isn't even up in the morning.

Filled feeders, got breakfast and even took a minute to color on a page I've been working on. I do that off and on during the day. Tried to validate a prescription finally a little after noon I got a human being. whoppee. Beats driving out and dropping a piece of paper in the box.  A long walk from parking.

Going through one email I keep forgetting to check daily spent time deleting.  Did follow a link about dementia, https://teepasnow.com/blog/5-additional-challenging-dementia-behaviors-explained/ and printed it out. Print on that page was huge. lol   Maybe I should of printed the email.

Tomorrow daughter will take me to have another ablation on my back. It's been a year but it hasn't been a pain free year. I think Feb. is when I started having to take pain meds, not sure. I need to keep a better record on that.  She was not able to pick up the few groceries this weekend as an antibiotic she was on was causing stomach problems.

I've worked to get a couple utilities to mail our bill to her box so I will be sure to get it. Some days he is really stuck on the "my name is on it" mode. Which means I have to watch like a hawk to get the bill. If I get to the mail box first no problem.  I will try to start paying bills online. Every thing takes me awhile to feel better about that. I have trouble with passwords, I'm working on updating that list. I then have to remember Windows 10 and how to find the list.

I found my missing Sony camera. It had fallen off the stand and I guess far enough under when Tina swept the floor (she uses a broom) it was not dislodged. It still works. Now I need to go buy a new card reader as it is not working right. Of course Windows 10 puts the pictures where they want to instead of where I want them. Last time when I deleted the pictures on the camera I must of deleted them in the folder I dragged them to. I can't find them there.  I confuse easily.

I've been metering out the cookies to Wil. He will go through them to fast. When I give him his meal I ask if he wants more and he says he is full. Well obviously not.  That means I have to hide the rest of the cookies in a zip lock bag, some in this desk, some in a cupboard.

One thing I am upset about now....I've lost my book on Jamestown history, "Through the Arch". It is out of print. I moved it some time ago to put cookbooks on the shelf. I have searched every bookshelf in the house, file cabinet drawers, storage hassocks and no luck.  I talked to the author and she only has one book left, hers.  Only consolation I know daughter has no interest in it so she didn't borrow it and won't want it when I die.  I even checked Amazon and Ebay. So I guess everyone in 1976 that bought one still has it. :-)

Need to go do something I enjoy.

  • Groaning Old for sure

My main piece of work this morning is cleaning Pookie's cage. Should of timed myself. Did grab the yard stick and measure it, let's see 24 inches by..??? great memory kid!  I have to have Wil lift it to the floor so I can turn it sideways to pop the bottom piece off.  He wouldn't pick it up with the handle on the top so by lifting it at the bottom it made it hard for him to set it on the floor.  He will put the two pieces back together with a bit of my help as well. Then I prepare the floor on the inside, clip pieces of paper to the sides and in goes the pine chips.

I move Pook to the top of what used to be Buster's cage with his food and water and he ate and even dozed some of the time.  I have the radio on and may sing with it or just talk to him. The move him to his cage top with food and water and I sit down a few minutes.

Next I gather up the sheets that are around the base of the file cabinet holding his cage and out to washer. I just now remembered them so a trip to hang them on the line. Wil takes the clothespins off the line so trip back to get them and the clothes pole. The lines need restrung, who to do that?  When I went to hang the two old towels I lost my balance and had to grab the pole.  Should of had my pendant on but it was such a short trip out the door.

Tomorrow is my back ablation and Carissa is driving.  In 2 wks friend May is supposed too. Just sent her an email as I hadn't called back.  I feel sorry for both of them as they can't wait in the waiting room and cars are hot right now.  Supposed to be able to go next door and wait in a lounge area there.  Hope whoever cleans it does a thorough job.

Daughter set here yesterday and checked the utility page for me and found where I could ask the bill be sent to my email.  Easier than trying to change a mailing address.  I will use hers for some things but now both utilities should send me notices. I must remember how to do the check thing through the bank. I don't want it auto drawn, so I will have to feed that crazy number in manually.  Daughter is so sweet, she said she could do it on the Sunday visits.  I plan to muddle through.  Trying to get in one place that keeps a check on our Credit Union account this morning I about pulled my hair out. Did all that to find no alerts!

I really need to put a call into the Gastro doctor. It's 3 p.m. off to do that.
