    • No Doubt Summer is here

105 degrees F heat factor right now at 5 p.m.  Air Conditioning got cold to me today so I boosted it up some. I'm recovering today from the long walk to get my prescription.  I made it longer by forgetting my ID in the car cup holder.  A nice airman let me out and exit and waited for me to come back.  I moved the car up to a handicap spot while out there.  The nice people in line saved my spot and boy did it move fast in line while I was gone.

The military had to close the Satellite down again. The nice employee walking me in explained they had to consider heat this summer and personnel who have been deployed. So now all I have to do is figure out what time they open since I was there a little after 8 a.m. I would of been there sooner if I hadn't driven to the Satellite first.  :-)

On the way home I stopped to get Wil a donut and a cinnamon one for me.  Got home to find I got a powdered cinnamon and that was not what I wanted.  I have learned the new franchises don't carry as much as they bake, don't deep fry.  Need to research what mine is called for the next trip. lol  He was still asleep when I got home.

Carissa helped me compose a letter to the owner of Ingram Park Auto Center.  It went out June 29th.  I asked why I should pay over $200 for them to run a check on the fuse box made by Chrysler.  After all I was already paying over $900 for the fuse box.  Haven't heard a word back. Sad thing is this is the only place I can take my PT Cruiser to be worked on.   May be another dealer but much farther from my home and I don't drive very far.  Shoot now I don't even drive to church.  So far the car is running fine. Wil keeps asking me. :-)

Good grief time to get supper and here I sit.

  • Driveway still empty

Charles gave me the phone number of a Chrysler manager.  He of course didn't answer and he didn't call me back! They tell Charles the part will arrive Monday the 29th. Charles says it won't take long to install, but I bet they have to charge the battery after a month of none use!

I had to call a lady from church to take Wil and I for our first visit with our primary doctor in 6 months.  I misunderstood daughter when I thought she said cancel the car rental and she would take us. So it was a quick call to Verlena Sunday and thankfully she was available.  Bless her heart she sits in the car and waits. I hope in 3 months I have my car and inconvenience no one.

Dr. was pleased both of us lowered our A1c and lost weight. Not much weight loss I think.  He said there really wasn't much use in Wil taking one of those tests as we know he has dementia. I agree, what does it matter what kind?  He was glad to hear I have taken the steps to get him in the VA Gold clinic as they have a social worker to help me if needed.  I've also taken steps to get his Sea World retirement check sent right to our bank account.  He doesn't know it so I will have to figure out how to let him know. Though some days he thinks he doesn't get it any more when it hasn't arrived in the mail box. He's already forgotten what day it comes.

Today he picked up my half glass of tea up from the card table and said he would put it in the kitchen before it got knocked over.  Later when I went out to get it I found he had dumped it and rinsed the glass out.  He's done that with his coffee too. Could of kicked myself for even mentioning it to him.  I keep talking to him like he knows what is going on.  That's OK for most things but not something that might make him feel bad.

This afternoon he was going to go out and sweep the shed out. He was remembering in the morning Tony and David were over to get the little shed and used our dolly and wagon.  I caught him before he went out.  A few minutes later he headed for the front door to go check the mail. He had already done that.  Checking the mail is very common on his to do list.  If he sees the flag up he generally knows we have mail going out.  I try to keep an eye on that.  One day he did bring outgoing mail back.  I don't want to have to get a P.O. Box so I try to watch.

I told the doctor he was right, he sleeps a lot. That is also common. Though of late I've grabbed naps at the darnedest times. Do you suppose being 80 is why? lol

I finally worked a solution, some what with the late breakfast and lunch time. I try to keep lunch light as I can just go ahead and serve him and he eats. Then evening meal is the cooked meal. I now have to be sure he takes his pills at bedtime by having him take them as I take mine.  I can't put the next days out though until the next morning. I'm learning...:-)

As Dr. Mireas says I am so fortunate he has such a mellow personality.

  • Seems like a Sunday

Ever have one of those days?  Last night both Wil and I spent a lot of time getting up for that nightly trot. Back pain added to both of us. I figure mine came from dragging the heavy water hose around to 3 bird baths in the back yard.  To hear Wil today he said he did it, got a bit belligerent when I told him I did it.  I made the mistake of telling him he was sitting at his desk while I did it. With dementia this is not unusual and when in the heck am I going to figure that out?

Last night I tried to convince him to go do the bird baths. He said he didn't have any sunglasses. No they are in the glove box of the PT and he lost the clip on type. Then he said he had no hat and grinned when I pointed at them. But he didn't go out. So I did.

He was having trouble figuring what day it was as he looked at his calendar. No matter I would tell him. Well while I was out filling the bird baths he apparently kept fiddling with his calendar until he landed on October. Then he took apart the Sea World perpetual calendar that was correct, and turned it into October. So I took his calendar and put it back on June, pointed to the day. He then returned the other calendar to June.  I didn't tell him to as I would of done it later.

Yesterday Charles called me to tell me he checked and nothing had changed with Chrysler so my fuse box should be in Monday. I'm making a list of what I have to do when I get the car back, like renew my handicap placard, get dirt to fill two holes under the tree in the back yard, get a hair cut, get Wil's hair cut, wash the car, get bird seed.  :-)   That's all in the air as Covid19 continues to climb in our city. Of course Wednesday we have labs to do. I will probably be a little afraid to go very far in the car for awhile.

Got my mail in ballot in the mail with 2 bills.  Post man left one of the bills behind. Moved it back here for fear Wil would stick it in his desk drawer.  I saw him pick it up, hence my alarm in my head went off.  Looks like I better pay more attention to a lot of things.

Added to my day....Pookie yelling more.

  • Only 4 days later

Yesterday afternoon I had a long chat with my friend over Instant Messenger. I could of picked up the phone but felt tears may get in the way. All is well, she understands me more than I understand me. The "it's done" statement for for the incident, not our friendship. When I get hurt my mind just seems to leave sense behind.  I did tell her it will take me awhile before posts get a comment from me as I will be ill at ease for awhile.  She told me not to do that but I know my personality.

Though I have read books and even spent some time in counseling one year, the wounds of childhood just seem so ingrained. Shoot every thing I don't like about myself just hands on. :-(   Need to pray more about that.

I am up at 3 a.m. thanks to sinus and my back and yesterday the right knee kicked up. Our bedroom probably smells like Vicks and Ben Gay but I don't know I still have no sense of smell except when I dump garbage in the bin. I will clean up the diffuser today and pack it away again.

Today I will call the company that handles Wil's Sea World retirement to find out what to do to get his check sent directly to the bank. Wil would never do that as he was afraid they would mess up and he wouldn't get his check. It is necessary now as his mind leaves blank spots and I  have no car and some day I may have to give up driving. Imagine I will have to send them a copy of the Durable Power of Attorney and daughter is going to make several copies of that. Yesterday she wrote the cover letter and will make copies of that too.

Also need to schedule the mowers and tell them to lower the mower. I can't afford more than once a month and I will tell him if they can't then I will have to search for someone who can. Well I have not figured out how to say that without sounding threatening. I'd be a lousy boss.

Must toddle off and try to catch a few winks. Thanks for stopping in.

  • Lost another

There are many times on the internet I will click a link and it isn't what it is  supposed to be that will pop up. I was confused this morning when I clicked on a friend's link and the name below the singing wasn't the same one as her nieces name.  When I asked her about it she flew into a rage in a private message.  I hurt her nieces feelings (a grown woman as near as I can figure).  I tried to explain what I meant, no matter I got the second barrel.

I am sick to death of hurting someone's feelings when that was not my intention. A simple question and "you started it"  landed back in my lap. I can't ask a question?  I have to watch my mouth? Why did I post that on her thread?  Hell I didn't know a simple question was out of line.   My feelings are not as important as her adult nieces?  Nope. Years of friendship aren't important? Nope.

I was going to close FB but I use it to keep quick contact with daughter.  I have other friends and relatives there. Or I assume I have friends.  So I'll watch my mouth and won't post any comment on anyone's post as they may be taken wrong.

So I hope the singing niece heals. This is the second time this year I have pissed someone off. I don't need the stress.

  • Mixed Feelings Online groceries

Just finished my order.  Think 26 items, total $109.34. Personal Shopper $4.95 they deserve it, each item has a 3% online order fee. That surprised me, where does that go? Delivery fee $5, does that go to the driver? I ask because they have a line for a tip. We are fairly close to the store so I don't give more than $5.  After the last fiasco where the driver didn't put any in the chair on the porch but lined them up on the edge of the porch and didn't ring the doorbell.  I sat for an hour waiting for customer service to get to me and she asked me please go look on the porch. I did, there they are! I told her that doesn't deserve a tip, she said they would adjust that but how do I know?  I'm sure it will be on my credit card bill when I get it.

I popped a message to daughter I forgot bagels and do I give her a shopper fee. I was being a smart a... as I owe daughter more for shopping any way.  I can't remember if I have handed her any money for our groceries. She never hands me a bill.  She seems to remember all the times we have helped her and I sure don't remember $. There is no way I could repay her for all she has done.

Today I have managed to feed outdoor birds, give neighbors dog a treat, fix lunch, clean bathroom sink and it has taken me all morning to do all that. Squeezed in coloring a bit when I sat down waiting for tea kettle. I put sun tea out and carried that heavy jug both ways. That is all I've done. Got Wil to shake the bathroom throw rug. When he comes back in he asks where it goes even though he picked it up there.  He has lost his clip on sunglasses, I can't find them. His regular sunglasses are in the car glove box.  Heaven knows when we will get the car back.

I can't remember what I wrote about the car.  I got word the fuse box needed replaced. No changing a fuse, the box (memory type board) burned out. Highly unusual he said. I don't know why I called him today as they just ordered it the 27th. Holiday slowed every thing up. No word from Chrysler yet of course.  They will be giving us a $200 discount because we are a military family. That ought to tell you what direction cost is going.

  • Storm last night and today

I heard the rain but just went to bed and slept through the noise. My left wrist woke me as did Wil fiddling with his flashlight looking at his CPAP.  I can't figure out why he does that. He just looks at the machine, his breathing starts it and he has it on.  He's done this for a long time and of course he can't explain why.

I just called about my car. IPAC dealership has had it since Wed. Charles tells me the transmission problem is fixed but they have found an electrical issue and are trying to run that down.  I can't trade the car in and start another 3 yrs. of payments. I sure hope they can fix it. I already know I'm looking at $1200 and heaven knows what else.  Daughter can take me to pick it up today but she has to work tomorrow.  Talked to her awhile ago, she didn't get any sleep last night so lunch is off.

As for the wrist, I think I hurt it when the shelf of insulators fell and I tried to stop it. This morning I repaired two and I had done 1 more before I ran out of glue. Years of collecting these and I put 2 broken ones out on the front windowsill.brokenInsulators Then I put the remaining ones here. Some sharp points on the bottoms but I have no children or dogs so I'll just catch sun with these. 10 outside, 3 fixed inside.  I haven't cried, I just figured that is less for daughter to do when I die.

Won't be able to fix the holes in the wall either. Should do like son used to do in rentals. When he was leaving he stuffed bread in the holes. :-) We still have a lot on insulators.  The man I was going to have her call died last year.  He had a monster collection, wonder what his family did with them?

Gotta go fix lunch. Thanks for stopping in.

  • Middle of the Month

I'm sure not keeping up like I used to. That's no surprise really. Not much is changing for us now days. Wil has only been out in the car to cash his check at the end of the month. I've been out to drive thru prescription pick up's and a trip to Lowe's for a hose and bird seed then this week to Lock Hill Feed store for more bird seed. Wearing a mask whenever out of the car.

Tina comes in masked and gloved once a month to do our floors.  Next week I'm to have the cancer surgery on my nose, daughter will take me and I'll have her call Wil as this is supposed to take awhile.  I know when I had the basal cell removed it took it seemed like all day.  This is the same place on my nose. Then the next day we (Wil and I) are supposed to see the podiatrist. Can't confirm it yet as they take an hour for lunch.

I did see the hand doctor the 6th and he injected the back of my hand in two joints. I continue to rub analgesic creams on my hand as there is still pain in the palm, often worse depending on what I'm doing. I went an entire week without coloring, the pain was still there. I'm wondering if it is some kind of neuropathy as I once had pain in my big toe from such.  I'm supposed to return in 2 wks. Don't know if I will because he has no "plan B".

It has been rather nice not having to go to doctor appointments.  Sunday mornings I don't have the stress of getting Wil ready for church, I sit here and watch the service online. When it is a Communion Sunday I will drive earlier to pick up elements and be sure when I get home not to let Wil see them.  First time they were delivered they disappeared and I cried most of the morning.  About a week ago I saw the folded bag they came in, in his middle drawer. No idea what he did with the elements.  Didn't ask him, he wouldn't know.

Daughter continues to get groceries and I also order those online so she doesn't have to carry things like distilled water and bleach. The last delivery they dropped them on the edge of the porch and never rang the bell. Then I sat an hour on hold trying to find out where they were. I was livid and I must try harder not to get mad. I do not need another stroke.

Adding to my day is trying to learn Windows 10. You should of seen me trying to print out a receipt in email.  Worse the light is on my old printer saying I'm low on ink. Why? I don't use it that much. There would be a disadvantage of paying bills online. I still am old fashioned enough to one that paper receipt.

I hope all of you are fairing well.

  • Trudging on, groaning old

But hey I never figured I'd live this long.

Our weather goes from sunny to dreary, AC to open windows. Slacks and leg warmers to shorts. :-)

Wil moves slower every day but is still able to care for himself, though I nag for him to shave that once a week. He often goes without his hearing aids, but so do I.  He doesn't seem to be bothered he goes no where. Not sure if he misses church. He still teases daughter when she comes. He still looks at my coloring, tries to read the newspaper, stares at the TV but I don't think he is really following it. Though he does turn to the sports channel when I'm not in the room. Not sure how he finds it. There are days he will just muck around in his desk drawer.  What surprises me he will pay attention when I talk to him. I best be in the same room though.

He went along with all the hearing tests but the VA still denied any change in his disability. I have given up, no real need. I think the dementia diminishes his hearing.  That is probably why he is not comprehending what is going on the TV.   The cataracts aren't helping his eye sight and I have to remember to clean his glasses.  He will get up in the morning and leave them on the dresser, until I tell him to go back and get them.

I asked him to fill bird baths this morning, he put it off and it is too hot for him now. He does not take the heat well. Though originally he filled them after supper.

Last time I saw primary he told me he would sleep a lot.  He wasn't kidding. I ate breakfast headed out to get our prescriptions and he was still asleep.  Usual wake up time for him is 10 a.m. and sometimes 11.  I set his cereal, bowl and spoon out for him. He still makes coffee, old habit. Instant.  I need to watch which milk he uses on his cereal though as my Soy milk is hard to find now.

We are stay at home for the most part. I get prescriptions, daughter gets groceries and our pastor brought us bird seed. The city requires masks now, I've made one with rubber bands but a friend in Maryland is sending some.   Next month I am scheduled for the cancer surgery on my nose then June our primary. I know Dr. can talk to you at home with telemed. I have a land line and no idea how to use cell phone so I couldn't set that up. I share daughter's phone.  I only know how to send pictures to FB and delete messages. lol

Besides we can't run our A1c from the phone.

  • This from James Chambless

Jesus told us to pray for one another. When I pray for you, I usually don't know how that works out for you, but I know it always changes me. I think of you differently when I pray for you. I think of you more, maybe because I know at least one helpful thing I can do for you. I can pray. I grow to love you more. I pray for good things for you. That becomes my heart's desire for you and I spend time asking the God of all creation to bless you. In turn, my love for you grows. Which can be awkward when we meet because you might have no idea why I am so glad to see you. It's because praying for you has made me love you more.

That has got to be why Jesus commands us to pray for our enemies and those who persecute us. Because it changes us. I had a neighbor I did not like much. He didn't like me either. I decided to build a fence between us. I decided to build the ugliest fence I could think of! I finally hit on the ugliest idea of all. I'd build a fence with mirrors facing his place because that would be so damn ugly! Then I ended up getting convicted about that. He persecuted me. Jesus said that meant I was required to pray for him. So I did. We still aren't friends, but my care and concern for him has grown. I wave at him again. I am happy when his family comes to see him. I keep an friendly eye on his place when he is gone. Folks, I don't know if my praying has changed him at all, but it has changed me. In good ways. In godly ways.

Probably some of you who are nodding your heads are about to get annoyed with me. Mainly because I am about to tell you that it's pretty obvious when you aren't praying for the one's who persecute you. Chances are it's one politician or another that you hate most right now. And it's showing, friend. And that's fine. None of my business who you hate or who you pray for or who you don't. But if you claim to follow Jesus, one of the commands, not suggestions, he gave you and me was to pray for exactly those people. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's kind of obvious when you're not doing that. The words you use, the emotions that over power you. It shows. All of your praying for your enemy, should you choose to heed that command of Jesus, may not change your enemy at all. It will make you more like Jesus though. That's the victory we are supposed to be chasing after.

I know these things are hard. Jesus had something to say about that, too. If the burden you're hauling isn't light and the yoke you're pulling against is not easy, it's because they are not his.

Now I best go get his permission to post this. If he was still blogging I could just link you.
