  • Merry Christmas

Acadiana_Santa  Nothing much for us to do as we don't exchange gift, Wil and I that is.  I will just have to clear my coloring stuff off the table. lol

I won't be going to service again this year. They were calling for bakers to make cookies. Didn't do that either.  :-)

Have a hearing test for Wil the 27th, out of VA system. Then the 30th they will take a look at his knee that was listen on retirement that he no longer complains about.  No exercise now. :-)   I was to register for the portal but the form has listed my email as the users name, so I can't do that as I can't change the user name either.  So tomorrow I start the day calling them about their pre-register email.   Why can't something just be simple?

  • End of the day

Would like to skip tomorrow. I have a prescription to pick up at the Commissary and I need once again to gather some more groceries and I sure don't want to. It will be crowded and there probably won't be any carts and I walked the last time and paid for it. I could spend an hour online and order groceries to be delivered but with the upcoming holiday that will probably end up with missing items.

I'd get up and go by myself at 9 a.m. but my prescription is supposed to be picked up after 3 p.m. Though I find they are stocked by noon.  They hold them I think for 7 days but I'm not sure their hours through the holiday.  Do you get the feeling I hate shopping?  I do and I don't like planning meals either.  We can't have Meals On Wheels because we have a car and can go shopping. Well I can.

Today was run Wil out to the audiologist for a hearing test. She said he does have more than the 10% disability but the VA has their own way of reevaluating which I already know. I also know any more credit given him will come out of his retirement pay any way. Just tax free.  If he were an officer it wouldn't hurt so bad. They make more money than he did at retirement.  I just feel like they owe him. They never supplied ear protection and he worked flight line every where.  Maybe not in Korea, don't know, can't ask.

Mind just wandered off again.  Still coloring.

  • Time to Move On

Once again someone in one PSP group has decided to not involve me whatever in the group 'skin'. Won't teach me, no time he/she says.  So how about sharing some ideas for the skin?  Nah, don't need my imput.  He/she made an old member who hasn't even had her own group after 3 yrs. and started it back up, to become an administrator and work on the skin.

Of course because I let it be known that I was tired of being cut out (I am an administrator) or was, that I did not appreciate being cut out once again.  I hate leaving the owner but I don't need this stress in my life.  The owner didn't know or approve the new member being made admin apparently  without permission ,as she 'demoted' her.  Believe it or not that made it worse for me.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

More important news. I got Wil out to get new glasses ordered today. I didn't realize today was Army Graduation day on the Air Force base and the crowding was unbelievable. Not in the Optical shop but the hall ways.  I plopped Wil in the corner by Starbucks while I went to the restroom.  As I walked off I wondered if that was a smart move.  It was.  I've had to explain to him we come back in two weeks for his glasses.

I needed to go over to the commissary but skipped it as it would also be crowded.

Wil has a cataract, I forget which eye, and doc suggested I don't pay a lot for glasses in case his vision requires attention.  He also had us back to check the pressure. The tech couldn't get it so the Dr. did. He ordered some scans and they came out alright.  If all goes well we will see him in a year.

sized  After a few days rest of my hands I've resumed coloring.  This one was done with glitter gel pens.  Apparently you lose a lot of glitter if done to thickly.  Some can still be seen in person.

I've started one that is going to be much more difficult I think. The funny part when daughter brought some gel pens she brought a couple more books to add to the already 4 she had given me.

Originally she bought stuff for herself and never got around to doing any. :-)   I do find it relaxing and fun.  Wonder what mom would think.  She didn't like kids coloring as she thought they should draw, etc.

Seems as I get older I don't necessarily get smarter.  Came home to a phone call, lady wanted to re-instate my car warranty, she was working for Chrysler.  Not hardly Bonnie. Fell for that hook line and sinker. Didn't even catch on when she quickly switched me to a writer.  What the heck was going through my brain? My car is 10 yrs old and no way can you re-instate your warranty like a new car benefits.

They quickly got the first payment but I quickly sent the cancellation notice when the information came in on what they would and would not cover and I found the cancel information.  Sunday Carissa read over that mess and Monday morning I called the credit card company and got that card closed so no other payments to them would come by any one there that had access to my card info.

In the last couple weeks we also met with a representative of the Disabled Vets and she filled out paper work and instructed what we needed to do to try and get Wil more disability on his hearing.  We have an appointment this month  with VA Audiologist  but we will probably have to have him checked out of system too.  She said they don't accept just that test by VA. lol

We also ordered all his medical records at her suggestion. That is if they weren't destroyed that year in the fire.  That was long before computer records.

I am not hopeful on proper compensation on his hearing.  I asked a friend if they take it out of his retirement how is it a benefit any way. He said tax free.  I haven't a clue on how much tax he pays on retirement any way.

All of this mailing went out certified return receipt. I got the one from St. Louis but not the warranty scam people.

Need to get the few Christmas cards done and in the mail.

  • Wasted Day

20191126_Pook_assists Pook joins me as I color.  I finished and got the camera and of course the phone wanted to update. So I went to put the picture on FB and it says my app is out of date.  I'll let Carissa take care of that Thanksgiving.

I call this Pook's travel cage. He rides up top as you push the little table about. He is sitting on the stick today. Well was right now he has his feet on the towel.  I think those bars are to little for his feet.

He's quietly listening to the cd's and some times my singing to the song. I need a new base amplifier but it is not located easily by this desk. Plus I have no idea where I would buy one.  Don't even know how long I've had it. Only as long as I've had this big desk I suspect.

Our Thanksgiving is being cooked by some company I never heard of. Daughter will pick it up I suppose tomorrow.  She thought I would like to knaw on a bone so she got a whole turkey.  She can't eat much protein so I doubt she will take any home.  I've no idea what else is in the meal.  Surely not sweet potatoes as I am the only one to eat them. Besides Pook of course.

This morning I went out in fog to get milk. They had a bunch of pies so I picked up an apple pie. Doubt the crust is any good. Nothing like mom's pies. No I don't do pies.  Did not pick up pumpkin or look for sweet potato. The dutch apple had a lot of crumbs on the top.  None of it really matters to me with no taste.  I will probably have to look for recipes for left overs.

Wil didn't eat lunch, he ate breakfast at 11:30 so I handed him a bottle of Boost drink and now it is coming on time to fix supper.  Going to fix the chicken some how. I'm not a good cook, no imagination.  The more I fix the more shopping to replenish.

I did a dumb thing the other day. I listened to a slick lady on the phone and I had just come in and my mind was not in gear.  Car warranty thing, Bonnie reinstate a warranty after 10 years!!!  So as soon as the paperwork came in I looked for the cancel page and sent of a certified return receipt to two address listed.  That was silly too but necessary. If the address says Drawer such and such that is a post office box I learned.

So yesterday I called the credit company and they closed that account and will be sending me a new card.  Wonder how long it will take them to send me the cancellation notice?  Took them no time at all to take $139 and while I should get some back we will see how legitimate that really are.  Shoot their cancellation fee is $70.  Carissa read the entire booklet Sunday.

I always wondered why elders fell for scams. Now I know.

  • Busy day

For me it was.  Through the doors of Wal Mart at 7:30 a.m. and found a handicap spot to park at that hour.  I needed a shower curtain rod. Spring gave up in ours and I wanted that outside curtain up.  I managed to get my breakfast then when I got home and put the rod up even before Wil got up.  I know feet on the floor was not going to work in this case. I left my pendant on my neck just in case. I have one in the bathroom but I think it would just call here and if I was on the floor I couldn't answer the phone. I can answer the pendant.

I'll admit I was kind of scared as I've not been on that stool since my stroke. It isn't that high but it is if you have not hoisted your body up.  Small bathroom I positioned close to the wall.  I don't plan on taking risks like this but sometimes you are the only person to do something.  I would of waited for Carissa tomorrow except Wil takes a shower tonight.

The interesting thing, the old rod apparently had water in it and when I carried it out I managed to hit door frames and the door to the garage. The black gunk that came out was hard to get off places.  At first I didn't know what it was. Then when I saw the bathroom door frame I knew.

I walked next door with the long rod to see if I could put it in their trash can as it is larger.  Then it hit me, Justin can you step on this and bend it?  When he did proof of the water occurred.  He tossed it in the wrong can and said he'd get it later. Bet he doesn't.  So Monday if I remember I'll go get it.

Justin and his girlfriend have been cleaning up Juan's mess.  I asked about all the lumber. He said his dad wanted to build a room by the garage. I told him that will take a permit.  It would have to be so many feet from our property line. I'm betting he wants to put a place the dogs could run.

I picked up the little Chihuahua and she squirmed  so much I  had a hard time maintaining my balance.  That surprised me, I handed her back to him before I fell.  Can't quite figure out why.  I better not try ever picking up a baby. :-)

I'm continuing to color instead of doing puzzles. I notice they don't photograph well as they look rather un smooth as a painting would be.  Every stroke is visible.

Must go do dishes before Wil hops in the shower.

  • Beautiful Day Warming up

Off to get my hair cut this morning and my chin waxed.  She got a razor out for some little hairs. Keep going and I'll have coarse hair growing in. Stopped at the Mexican bakery and got Wil a donut and one for me.  His nausea was gone by the time  I got home and he was drinking coffee.

Clothes in the dryer and I picked up the broom and headed for the garage to clear the area and set up the table all the stuff from my bay window will go to so I can set up Christmas. Didn't have it decorated last year.  Only thing left in the corner awaiting Carissa's tree is the rocker. That is going to be slid as it is to heavy for Wil to carry now.

I have spent yesterday and today accidentally hitting my pendant and answering them with "I'm alright I just hit my pendant on the table".  I sent a message to Carissa I hope they don't charge for false alarms.  At the car dealership yesterday I set the thing off against their counter when I got ready to write the enormous check for 2 struts and an alignment.   I wish people would not fuss at me about dealership costs. Then again why the heck do I tell them what something cost?

Need to finish this and go eat lunch and get to Wal Mart.  I need cereal and of course Wil is out of cookies.

  • Decisions, I hate making them

Real cold this morning. Some rain and news was talking about road closures due to black ice. I had a doctor follow up and was afraid I shouldn't get on the road.  I contacted Kate but she said it was dry as a bone out there.  By the time I had to leave any ice would be gone.  She was right. Got there a few minutes early as usual and the parking lot was full. I managed to make a right turn parking space. I always look for the left ones. lol

NP Anel was pretty pleased to hear all I have now is a dull ache at times and that I can do more things, including making my bed.  Though yesterday I pulled some dead grass in the flower garden and that wasn't the brightest idea but I'm doing fine.  She gave me a prescription for a rolling walker so I can see if I can find one with better wheels.

As I pulled into the official Wheelchairs Plus parking lot I hadn't noticed it was a moving sale so I went on around the building and headed home.  Fixed lunch, Wil protested he wasn't hungry but he ate any way. Then it was out the door and headed to Discount Tire to get air in the tires so the warning light would go off. Granted it only dings once to let you know your tires are low.

Leaving there I headed to Valero to gas the car. Hit the nail on the head $20 to fill. That's 9.30 gallon.  I looked twice and something on the pavement as I came back. It was a dead rat or mouse that was flattened. I told Wil surprise, I didn't take a picture of it.  The station was just remodeled last year and I find it a very dirty place. One thing they have a lot of homeless in the area, they've put up signs about loitering.  But I say it has to do with whoever is sweeping the floors is not doing a good job. It is open 24 hrs. a day place.  Probably not over staffed.

I get home and the phone rings. Wil couldn't hear what she was saying except she wanted to talk to me.  She was given the job as she saw my PT Warranty is out. A lot of times I get such a call but for some reason when she said she wanted to reinstate my warranty coverage as she worked for Chrysler I believed her.  I got the mileage for her 48,276 and she was surprised how low it was for a car almost 10 yrs. old  When I gave her that she switched me to an agent.  He read my VIN number to me, it was correct.  Long story short I re-instated even though I know they don't cover routine maintenance its the same as the original protection I got when it was new.

Though I know it made no difference I asked Wil what he thought before I gave the go ahead.  I did neglect to ask James if I could cancel if I wanted to or had to.

Now I wonder where the original warranty is. James says he carries his in the glove box.  He says most people forget where they put theirs.

I sure hope I made the right decision. I have turned all such calls down before.  I could understand both of the people I talked to.  I'll know when the policy arrives hopefully.

So I can forget getting a different walker. Probably should forget looking for some slacks and make the two pair I have work.

  • Closer to year end

Where has this year gone?  Some how I thought as you aged time slowed down. It hasn't. I'm sitting here listening to cd's while the birds sit beside me, Buster in his cage and Pookie on top of it.  In fact Pookie is now sleeping!  I'm ready for a nap but that isn't going to happen. Uh oh Pook just woke to squawk.

Wil woke again this morning burping so much he didn't want to eat breakfast. Got him the Pepto Bismal and had him lay down a bit. He must be sucking in air with his CPAP. Same thing Monday morning but to him its been a long time since it happened.

Carissa has been researching information about the VA to see how they can help persons with dementia.  She also looked into the disability with his hearing and said for the diagnoses he got of tinnitus it only gives 10%.  That is so sad that is the diagnoses they gave him. His is more than that. I scheduled him in Dec. for a reevaluation though. Not that they will do anything different with his age and now dementia.  As for the other information I saw nothing that applies to him at this stage.

Our weather is doing the up and down stage. Air conditioner back on. I'm still coloring some each day. My mind is just empty of any concerns while doing that so I guess one could say it is therapeutic.  My biggest concern right now is keeping him fed. I hate planning meals.  Shopping is the next headache. I may make a list but I've no room to store much.  Use it once, you are out or low. lol

    Gotta git.

October 29, 2019

  • coloredP Finally I got smart enough to line them up by color.  A bit easier choosing the pencil.

These are a gift from daughter, along with 3 or is it 4 adult coloring books.  I joked about not living long enough to finish them.  They aren't like a child's coloring book that's for sure.  I can't help but wonder what mom would think of them.  She always wanted children to free hand instead of coloring books.  To her those books stifled imagination and ability.

I can remember giving our kids finger paints.  I wonder if you still wet the paper to do that.

Now as cold weather once again has returned my fingers are feeling that and if they get to bad to color I will be less than happy.

Today I am upset with myself.  We went up to the Credit Union for Wil to cash his check. I stood right there by him and watched her count out the money.  When we got home and he was trying to count it out he seemed to be having trouble and didn't like it I was standing there waiting to put it away.  I didn't want to risk him putting it some where and not remembering where it was. We are already looking for his 'gimmie' cap from Sunday.

So I come back and sit down to count it. I came up $20 short. I got the calculator and 3 times I still come up short and then got upset thinking the lady did it.  I handed him back his money and he spent about 2 hours counting and came up with the right amount.  So I picked up the $20 bills and started to count it out, oh good grief I counted those wrong!  So if you punch the numbers in the calculator how the heck did I do that wrong?  sigh.  Makes me wonder if I should be handling the finances!

By the end of this he didn't know what all the figures were he wrote down.   No we still don't know where his hat could be. So I'll just go buy him a new one. It was one I had bought him with an American Eagle on the front and he wore it all the time.  Yes he has other 'gimmie' aka ball caps.  Only one of them is nice and clean the others look worn.

October 19, 2019

  • Cool weather gone again

Set outside and read some of Mike Rowe's "The Way I heard it".  My eyes won't take long periods of reading and they aren't readjusting to this screen at the moment.  I need to go wake the birds and feed them back shortly.

Well that took awhile, come back, color reverted to black.  The delivery guy came with groceries so I had to put those away before finishing with birds.  I did it again, 2 cans I had no checked the size so now some sweet  potatoes are in the freezer.  Of course the minute Wil saw that can he said "I'm not eating those".  I already know that, I eat them, the birds eat them.

Now I have the air ozone thing cleaning Wil's cpap mask and next I will shove the hose in the bag. To do both at the same time I have to buy a small plastic container that will fit both at the same time.  No biggie, when the mask finishes I'll set the hose in. Just have to get the book to check the time. If it ends while I'm sitting here I will hear a ding. Forget how long to leave the bag closed though so have to pull the manual out.  I know he can't use it for 90 minutes so that is why morning is the perfect time to do this.

Now I've got to go mess with the color or just keep typing.  Not the best wysiwyg editor.  Of course there is no one around Xanga any more to assist.

Once I got the mirror fixed on my car I got us both back to Walgreens where Wil got his flu and shingles jab and I got my shingles. Week before I got the flu jab.  The shingles left my arm pretty sore. Didn't bother Wil in the least. Now in December we go back for the second one. I need to get that written on the calendar.

Two days ago while eating I had a tooth hurt. Well that was sudden. Got to the dentist the next day and he found plaque below the crown.  And that is a tooth I thought I was cleaning well enough. He made the girl show me how to angle my toothbrush. Well mine is electric and not as easy to angle, but I'm trying.  In the process my TMJoint got traumatized and so now I'm dealing with that.  Heat didn't help so ice packs went on my jaw. I'm also taking Tylenol every 6 hrs. and have to  watch what I eat. This morning it was oatmeal.

I just went out to see if Wil had or was eating his cereal. He had his coffee and a cookie I know, and he took his pills.  I couldn't find him, inside or outside. He was in the birds room sweeping the floor! It's 11:00 and he hasn't had breakfast!  He does that all the time.  I keep Boost on hand. Now what to do for dinner?
