Progress

Almost finished with the bathroom.

Monday I had told the boss I wanted it done this week. After all he told me it was a day and a half job. Would of helped it they hadn't started last Wed. and didn't return until Tues.

The color is more grey but this is another room where the camera can't capture the color we see.

The painters are brothers and I must say very nice people and they work well together. At least from what I saw.

Still last night I couldn't shower as paint needed some time to set. Humidity has been so high and the AC was off until they left last night.

Today the electrician is due in after a staff meeting to place a new plug and wire the light on the mirror wall. Then possibly today or tomorrow the mirror will get mounted.

I decided it will be my job not theirs to wipe down the tub surround. I'd like Wil to bring in a ladder so I can check up near the ceiling as well. I have cared for this 'fake' marble since 1994 and I doubt they really know how to clean and dry it. Every time we have showered we wipe down the walls. When the surround first went in they told us to use auto polish and that was applied making it easier to buff.

This time when they sprayed the texture on the wall some did land on the counter top and I will see if I can remove it with my plastic scraper. If I can't I will ask them what to use.

Wil saw a tiny bit of paint on the floor. That they will have to get as bending is out for me. I notice Wil having more back problems. I can tell, he gets grouchy.

I sure appreciated Tony was doing our yard yesterday so I could borrow his keys and go over and use their bathroom a couple times.

Some adjustment will have to be done on our bill as the painters did not have to lift the toilet to get behind it. I guess the big boss didn't know that. Plus we bought the towel bars. I probably should of had them move the one closer to the light switch as the door does hit it. That would of thrown the balance off though.

I certainly hope we never have to do another job in there. When we first moved in the house Wil and Scott worked on it, then the big huge gut job that almost drove us into divorce court, so hopefully we are now done.

Do you know the Habitat ReStores won't take a mirror unless it is framed? So now I have a 42 inch by 48 inch mirror sitting in the garage. Hopefully the electrician does know someone who will take it. Stands to reason as bathrooms with large mirrors are out of style now. We may end up having to set it in the yard with a big 'Free' sign on it.

I guess until you find a useful purpose for an unframed piece of mirror(glass), you could wrap it in gobs of felt or other thick material until you do find a useful purpose. However, then years later you may forget what you have in the bundle. I keep things too long that I may find some possible use for and eventually throw it out ...soon after I do find a use. Maybe someone could cut it to fit a coffee table or end table top....(then dust could get trapped)I have a few pieces of glass like that. I wonder where they are? Oh Well.

Remodeling the bathroom(a very useful room indeed) takes a lot of patience while it's being done...but once it's done, you will be happy.

Who decides that "bathrooms with large mirrors are out of style now"? Nobody ever asked for my vote on that. I complain that I'd like a larger mirror in our bathroom.

Actually we do have thoughts for remodeling our bathroom. It has a huge bathtub and a separate small shower. The bathtub is almost never used (in 16 years here I've never used it) and we have been thinking that a really nice walk-in shower would be great there -- the area is big enough that it possibly could be a no door shower. Nancy would then like to replace the old shower with a closet for towels and such. I hate to think what that might all cost us.

@josaju - Our house is only 925 sq. ft. no room to keep such a huge piece.

@jimsjournal - Watching HGTV a lot of people house hunting are turned off without a tub. So resale is probably a good idea when remodeling. wil asked why we ever had such a big mirror. I told him because we never thought about getting old and trying to clean it. (I'm getting shorter)

We have such large mirror which was in my parents's dining room, bought in 1955 . We do not know what to do with . No one wants it for free . This out of style .
Glad the works in the bathroom are finished . Good job.

Love
Michel
